All the matches will start this Sunday, are best of three and the first two games must be played. It's up to the two squads caps to decide whether to play a game 3 on Sunday or the following week. I did my best to get our game scheduled to a later time, but we got stuck with 5est. I'll be back on Sunday to let you know how we got on.

AML Semi Final, Victimise 12 EyeQ 2

We should of made it in season 6 when we were knocked out by the eventual champions Unforeseen in the semi finasl and we made an unexpected run in the season 12 playoffs to make the finals against Gods only to lose in two games. Now after what turned out to be a disappointing season we get the chance to take care of some unfinished business and finally take the AML title home.

The game itself yesterday was fairly uneventful. We started me, Asinine, a fool (all 'birds) and Joe Bane (weasel) with Inigo Montoya (weasel) subbing in, while EyeQ went the whole game with T.k.c., Xill, mashem and Nasty Devil (all 'birds).

As expect EyeQ came out very passive and looked to lob at every opportunity. We were happy to play the lob game with them until we started to burn them down and push out loners and target them out. We went 3-0 up after the first 13 minutes, took control and never really looked back. EyeQ hung in there for a little while longer, but once Inigo subbed in to really step the pace up they folded. and no, I don't know how I ended up with the MVP over Inigo either. As I ended up playing the whole match I forgot to take any screenshots. Our focus now turns to FnD and the best-of-three finals series. Mauler should post a time either later this evening or tomorrow and I expect FnD cap Knives and myself to look to negotiate a later time than that as both squads prefer to play as late as possible.

Once there is a confirmed time I'll post here, along with the times for the Pro Bowl (Assassins vs Sterling) and the IML Finals (Llamasutra vs No Contest).

We best EyeQ 12-2 today to make our second AML finals series. Not the most exciting of games, but I'll put up a match report sometime tomorrow.

Much like our season, I've let this blog slide in the last few weeks. But thanks to the new pyramid system we still have a lifeline.

After a good start we ended up losing five of our last six games to go from a seemingly-safe spot in the upper part of the IML tier to drop down into the AML basement. The lifeline is that we can still make the AML finals.

Last Sunday we got a bye in the first round and go straight into today's semi final where we face fellow Alpha squad EyeQ. The winners of that game will go on to face Fly-NDeath in the best-of-three final.

I've updated the player stats and results - which you can check out on the sidebar - and I'll be back later today after the game with the result.

Round 6, Victimise 12 SkyRakers 4

Another good performance from us yesterday. With the squad now back and playing for a month we've started to gel and are now set in the middle of the IMP tier after three straight wins.

We started Anamalech(warbird/weasel), a fool (weasel/warbird), Dank Season (warbird) and agentgeorge (warbird). Our subs were a pool (warbird), Asinine (warbird), TrickStar (warbird) and BLU-82 (terrier). SkyRakers went with Kepi (weasel), ozzi (warbird), AOL (warbird) and Static Burn (warbird). Their subs were The Element (warbird), noskill (warbird) and pac-man returns (warbird).

We got off to a good start with two kills by Anamalech, then a DK by Dank/ozzi to make it 3-1 us after twelve minutes. SR kept it close from then on, when we looked like pulling ahead they struck back and the score was 4-3 us at the twenty seven minute mark. That would be as close as they'd get.

SR have decent starters, but a very weak bench which we took advantage of when the subs started. In just over three minutes of match time it went from 4v4 and 4-3 to 4v2 and 8-3 to us. Our only other death in the game was a teamkill. Anam was the MVP going 4-1 with 4 assists and an amazing 12 forced reps and is now the highest rated player in the league. Also a shout out to BLU-82 who played in his second-ever league game yesterday - six years after his first one for Vic in Spring League. Here's all the stats.

Round 5, Victimise 9 Fly-NDeath 7

We won our second straight game yesterday to continue to our move up the pyramid taking down Fly-NDeath 9-7. We went into the game with another good showing and plenty of time to warm up and expecting another big score following our 12-0 shut-out of Hitlist in round 4. It didn't quite turn out like that.

Our starters were stool (warbird), a fool (warbird), Dank Season (warbird) and Inigo Montoya (weasel). Our subs were me (terrier), Mental Retardation (warbird) and Asinine (warbird). FnD went with TTfauker (warbird), Gunstar (weasel), a-soul (warbird) and Knives (warbird) as their starters and shakers (warbird) and Don Cherry (warbird/terrier) as their subs.

The game started off pretty much the same as last week. We opened up a 2-0 lead inside the first seven minutes, we were pushing well as a group and were looking good to rack up a big score. Then the problems started. I called Asinine to sub in for Dank. Although he hadn't died he was 0/0 and I didn't want to give FnD an obvious target. Unfortunately as I called the players to back off until the sub was made we fell apart and died twice within thirty seconds to tie the game up.

We managed to get a second kill on Gunstar (who was then subbed by matey) to re-take the lead and put the first slot on one life, but we never really gained control of the game after the sub was made. This was bared out by the next ten minutes of gameplay where FnD got five kills to our one to go up 7-4. Ironically this was where we took back control. Both teams had made subs by then and our better depth (even with me in the game) started to tell and we took control again.

FnD never got another kill as we targeted out first matey and then shakers to tie the score at 7 and make the game 4v2 in our favour. We managed to get two more kills before the end of the game to take the win. A fool picked up the MVP going 4-1 with 4 forced reps. Here's all the stats.

Round 4, Victimise 12 Hitlist 0

After the mess of our first game we went into yesterday's match-up with Hitlist with much better organisation and a lot more confidence. Our roster was settled and we had a good week of practice. Meanwhile Hitlist - who also entered the league last week along with us, No Contest and Fly-NDeath - had a lot of problems. Squad cap Mitsubishi had quit along with several players which left new cap Zosa scrambling around to fill out a weak-looking roster. Out of the six players Hitlist played yesterday three of them (Voltrac, ex-Vic BlueGoku and nwb) only joined the squad a few minutes before the game started.

So with all that in mind it's no surprise that the match turned out the way that it did. We started Anamalech, Inigo (both weasels), stool and Asinine (both birds) and used agent, Dank and Epizoody as subs (all birds). HL went with Voltrac, nwb, Aegion and Farlick as their starting four with BlueGoku and Zosa subbing in (all in warbirds).

The match was a carbon copy of last Sunday, except this time we were the one's dominating. It's no surprise that HL lacked teamwork and we took full advantage of it and put them out quickly. Here's all the match stats:

It was always going to be a tough start for us, but I don't think anyone expected the score to be this bad. Our starting four was me (bird), a tool (jav), hypnotoad (bird) and Epizoody (Weasel) and we subbed in agent (bird). Bet went with three (Terr), colt, High Gain and Nightwasp (all birds) and used Nilrem and Charas (both birds) as their subs.

It wasn't hard for me to pick a starting four as that's all we had when the game was called. The story of the game was really all about us not being able to get a push on at any time. We did play well at times, but we couldn't do anything other than lob, while Betrayal had Three to push on and set up the attacks for them. Three was the real difference maker in the game and we really had no answer for him as he pushed us back and split us up. Not much else to say really, here's all the stats:

Now we have that out of the way we can start working our way up the pyramid, shaking off the rust and maybe even managing a kill or two in our next game. That game is against Hitlist and will be played at 9pm EST on Sunday.

We Lost

Betrayal beat us 12-0 yesterday. Although the game wasn't as bad for us the score suggests, it gives us some idea of the work we have to do. We are now at the bottom of the pyramid and should play Hitlist next Sunday.

I'll post a match report and the game stats in the next couple of days. There's no screenshots of the match as I was too busy backarrowing and lobbing in the match to think of taking any.

It's a really tough start for us, but at least we're in.
